The School

CIMAS is a free-standing unit in the Rosenstiel School. It has an operational status similar to that of the other divisions of the School:

Although CIMAS has the status of a division, it has no faculty. RSMAS faculty participate in CIMAS activities in many ways, but they must hold their primary appointment in one of the aforementioned academic divisions. Similarly, graduate students who work on CIMAS programs have their primary affiliation with an academic division which has the ultimate responsibility for overseeing the students' academic performance and granting degrees. In the same vein, the research activities in CIMAS are intended to be distinct from, but complementary to, those in the other divisions of the School.
