Issues in Sub-Seasonal to Multi-Year Prediction Research
– Prof. Ben Kirtman presents a Seminar on October 9, 2020, 9:30am in COMPASS Seminar Series at the Rosenstiel School, in a Virtual Auditorium.
This talk will summarize the status of the NOAA funded multi-institutional sub-seasonal prediction experiment (SubX) and the North American Multi-Model Ensemble (NMME) seasonal prediction effort. The focus is on lessons learned and outstanding predictability and prediction research questions. The background and motivation for an emerging multi-institutional effort in multi-year prediction are described, and the most challenging research questions are emphasized.
