Tropical Weather

Research encompass the collection and analysis of hurricanes and other tropical weather system observations. This includes identifying and validating observational needs, developing instrumentation, obtaining observations, studying the optimum configurations for observation networks, modeling and data assimilation, expediting and facilitating the transition of research to operations, and developing analysis and forecast applications for operations.

These research activities contribute to NOAA Mission Goal 3: Weather-Ready Nation – Society is prepared for and responds to weather-related events.
